Serum Pump Manufacturer — 18mm, 20mm and 24mm Serum Pumps

A serum pump, also called a treatment pump, dispenses a small, measured dose of a thin formula: typically 0.12–0.25 ml per stroke. We manufacture serum pumps in 18/410, 20/410 and 24/410 neck finishes as part of the bottle set they ship with, so the pump and the bottle share one color reference, one sample round and one lead time.

What Is a Serum Pump?

A serum pump, also called a treatment pump, is a dispensing pump engineered for low-viscosity formulas and small doses. Where a lotion pump delivers 1.0–2.0 ml for a hand or body application, a serum pump meters a fraction of that: the amount a concentrated serum, essence or facial oil is designed to be used at. It is built from five parts, each specified to the bottle.

  1. OvercapA clear cap over the actuator that protects it in transit and on the shelf.
  2. ActuatorThe head the user presses. Its shape and finish are the visible part of the brand.
  3. CollarThe threaded closure that screws onto the bottle, sized to the neck finish.
  4. Pump engineThe housing, piston and spring that measure each stroke.
  5. Dip tubeCut to the internal height of the specific bottle, so the pump draws to the base.

Choosing 18mm, 20mm or 24mm

The neck finish is written as two numbers. The first is the outside diameter of the thread in millimeters; the second is the thread style. All three serum finishes are 410, about one and a half turns of thread, so the choice is about diameter, and it follows the bottle.

24 mm 20 mm 18 mm Top view, to scale Collar on the bottle

Choose a neck finish

18/410: slim and light

A slim neck for smaller bottles and narrow silhouettes, where a wider collar would look heavy on the bottle.

20/410: the versatile middle

One of the most widely used treatment-pump finishes, and a flexible choice across common serum bottle sizes.

24/410: one finish for the range

A wider collar with more presence, and the same finish lotion pumps use. Specify the serum on 24/410 and a whole range, serum and lotion, can share one neck finish and one collar design.

Both numbers must match. An 18 mm pump will not fit a 20 mm neck, and a 400 thread will not seat correctly on a 410 neck of the same diameter. That is why we specify the pump and the bottle together.

Matching the Output to the Formula

The output decides how many doses the bottle holds, and how long the routine lasts before a reorder. For a concentrated serum it is a formulation decision as much as a packaging one.

Strokes = fill volume ÷ output per stroke. A dip-tube pump leaves a small residue at the base of the bottle.

Serum Pump or Airless Pump?

Both dispense a measured dose; they differ in how the formula reaches the actuator and how it is protected on the way. For oils dosed by the drop, a push-button dropper is the third route.

Recyclable Serum Pump Options

Where recyclability is part of the brief, a serum pump can be specified with PCR resin and in a mono-material build. A conventional pump combines several plastics with a metal spring; a mono-material design replaces the spring with a plastic one, so the whole pump belongs to a single material family.

Pair it with a PCR bottle for a set designed for recycling from the start. The route is specified per project, against your formula and your target market.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask most before they specify a serum pump. If yours is not here, send it with your formula and we will answer it against the real product.

Ask about your serum pump
What is a serum pump?

A serum pump, also called a treatment pump, is a dispensing pump designed for thin formulas and small doses, typically 0.12–0.25 ml per stroke. It combines an actuator, a threaded collar, a pump engine, a dip tube cut to the bottle's height and a clear overcap, and is used for serums, essences, eye treatments and facial oils.

What output should a serum pump have?

Most serums and essences sit at 0.12–0.25 ml per stroke; eye treatments favor the low end, and facial oils and richer actives move up to 0.5 ml. A 30 ml bottle gives about 150 strokes at 0.2 ml. We confirm the output against your actual formula during sampling.

Which neck finish should I choose: 18mm, 20mm or 24mm?

The neck finish follows the bottle. 18/410 suits slim bottles and narrow silhouettes, 20/410 is a flexible middle choice across common serum sizes, and 24/410 matches the finish lotion pumps use, so a serum and a lotion in one range can share a collar design. The diameter and the thread must both match the bottle exactly.

Should my serum use a standard serum pump or an airless pump?

A standard serum pump with a dip tube suits thin, stable serums and oils, in glass or plastic bottles. An airless pump dispenses 0.1–0.5 ml as a piston rises inside the bottle, without a dip tube, and is the specification for oxidation-sensitive actives, preservative-reduced formulas and thicker serums.

Can the serum pump be color-matched to a glass bottle?

Yes. The actuator, collar and overcap are matched to the bottle from a physical color sample, and the collar can be frosted, spray-coated, electroplated in chrome, gold, rose gold or brushed, or finished in anodized aluminum.

Can I use a serum pump for perfume?

A serum pump dispenses a liquid dose, not a spray. For fragrance, body mists and toners, the right dispenser is a fine mist sprayer, which atomizes 0.08–0.15 ml per spray. See our fine mist sprayers.

What is the MOQ and lead time for custom serum pumps?

MOQ is 10,000 units per SKU on existing molds. A pump head sample takes 15–18 days in a stock color and 15–25 days in a specified color; production of 10,000 custom-color pump heads takes 30 days, counted from receipt of vector artwork and payment. Sea freight adds 35–40 days.
