Lotion Pump Manufacturer — 20/410, 24/410 and 28/410 Lotion Pumps

A lotion pump dispenses 1.0–2.0 ml per stroke for lotions, creams and cleansers, and 3.0–4.0 ml for body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We manufacture lotion pumps in 20/410, 24/410 and 28/410 neck finishes as part of the bottle set they ship with: one color reference, one sample round, one lead time, and a dip tube cut to the bottle it goes into.

What Is a Lotion Pump?

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1.0–4.0 mlper stroke

A lotion pump draws a measured dose from the bottle each time the actuator is pressed. A piston pushes the product out through the actuator; a spring returns it, and a one-way ball valve lets product up into the pump body without letting it fall back. Every part is specified to the formula and to the bottle it ships on.

  1. 1Actuator PPThe head the user presses; the visible part of the brand.
  2. 2Collar PPScrews onto the bottle neck, sized to the neck finish.
  3. 3Gasket PESeals the collar to the neck.
  4. 4Piston and rod PE / PPPush the dose out of the pump body.
  5. 5Spring Steel or plasticReturns the actuator; plastic in a mono-material build.
  6. 6Ball valve GlasLets product up, stops it falling back.
  7. 7Pump body PPHouses the piston, spring and valve.

How Much Product per Press

Output is the specification customers notice first: too little and they press three times, too much and the product runs over the hand. A 1.0 ml output usually pairs with a smaller neck such as 24/410; a 4.0 ml output needs a wider neck such as 28/410.

Left-Right Lock, Clip Lock or Screw-Down?

The lock decides how the pump behaves between the filling line and the first press: on a retail shelf, in a courier box, or in a travel bag.

  • Left-right lock

Turn to open, turn to lock

The actuator turns 90 degrees to open and turns back to lock. Clean-looking and easy to re-lock for travel.

Best forProducts sold off a retail shelf
  • Clip lock

A clip the actuator cannot pass

A plastic clip around the neck physically stops the actuator being pressed, and is removed before first use. It doubles as a visible sign the pump has not been used.

    Best forCourier shipping and e-commerce
  • Screw-down lock

    Pressed down and screwed tight

The actuator is pressed down and screwed tight to the collar. A compact, secure position for shipping and travel.

Best forShipping, travel and compact cartons

Direct-to-consumer, shipped by courier: we recommend a clip lock or a screw-down lock.

Retail, picked off a shelf: a left-right lock keeps the pump clean-looking and easy to use.

Will a Lotion Pump Handle My Cream?

Industry guidance reserves standard lotion pumps for products under roughly 20,000 cP: lotions, light creams, cleansers, shampoos and body washes. Above that, the dispenser changes.

The thickest butters and balms belong in a jar, scooped rather than pumped.

The reverse matters too: a thin liquid in an oversized pump can spurt, so output is matched to the formula as well as the format. Send us the formula and we size the pump against the real product during sampling. The full guide is on our pumps page.

Dip Tube Length

A dip tube that is too short leaves product the pump cannot reach; one that is too long kinks against the base. We cut the dip tube to the internal height of the specific bottle in the set, not to a generic length.

In a tall bottle it is cut to reach and rest against the bottom edge; in a short bottle it stops about 2 mm above the base. It is one of the reasons we specify the pump and the bottle together.

Customization

The actuator and collar are the most visible part of a lotion bottle, and every surface on them can be specified, matched to the bottle they ship with.

Choose a finish

Custom color

Actuator, collar and overcap matched to the bottle from a physical color sample, so the set reads as one set under store lighting.

Production, 10,000 sets 30 days for custom-color pump heads

Frosted

A matte, soft-touch surface on the collar or the bottle.

Frosting adds 5–7 days at sampling

Spray-coated

Colors and gradients across the collar and the bottle, run on our own spraying lines.

Production, 10,000 sets 30 days

Electroplated

Chrome, gold, rose gold or brushed collars, matched from a physical sample.

Production, 10,000 sets 35 days for electroplated caps

Anodized aluminum

Recyclable Lotion Pump Options

Where recyclability is part of the brief, a lotion pump can be specified with PCR resin and in a mono-material build. A conventional lotion pump combines several plastics with a stainless steel spring and a glass ball; a mono-material design replaces the spring with a plastic one, so the whole pump belongs to a single material family.

Pair it with a PCR bottle for a set designed for recycling from the start. The route is specified per project, against your formula and your target market.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions buyers ask most before they specify a lotion pump. If yours is not here, send it with your formula and we will answer it against the real product.

Ask about your lotion pump
How much does a lotion pump dispense?

A standard lotion pump dispenses 1.0–2.0 ml per stroke, the dose for face creams, hand lotions and sunscreens. High-output lotion pumps dispense 3.0–4.0 ml for body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. We confirm the output against your actual formula during sampling.

Should I choose a 24/410 or a 28/410 lotion pump?

The neck finish follows the bottle and the output. A 1.0–2.0 ml pump usually sits on a 20/410 or 24/410 neck; a 3.0–4.0 ml pump for body and hair care needs a wider neck such as 28/410. The diameter and the thread must both match the bottle exactly.

Will a lotion pump work with a thick cream?

Up to a point. Industry guidance reserves standard lotion pumps for products under roughly 20,000 cP. Heavier creams and balms, from about 30,000 cP upward, suit an airless system rated to around 80,000 cP, and the thickest butters belong in a jar. Send us the formula and we will size the pump against it.

What is the difference between a left-right lock, a clip lock and a screw-down lock?

A left-right lock turns 90 degrees to open and close, and suits retail shelves. A clip lock uses a removable plastic clip that stops the actuator being pressed, the most secure option for courier shipping. A screw-down lock screws the pressed actuator tight to the collar for shipping and travel.

Can the lotion pump be color-matched to the bottle?

Yes. The actuator and collar are matched to the bottle from a physical color sample, and the collar can be frosted, spray-coated, electroplated in chrome, gold, rose gold or brushed, or finished in anodized aluminum.

Can I get a PCR or mono-material lotion pump?

Yes. A lotion pump can be specified with PCR resin and in a mono-material build, where a plastic spring replaces the stainless steel one so the whole pump belongs to a single material family. The route is specified per project, against your formula and target market.

What is the MOQ and lead time for custom lotion pumps?

MOQ is 10,000 units per SKU on existing molds. A pump head sample takes 15–18 days in a stock color and 15–25 days in a specified color; production of 10,000 custom-color pump heads takes 30 days, counted from receipt of vector artwork and payment. Sea freight adds 35–40 days.
